My Micronik (I presume that's what it is) floppy drive, set as DF0, can boot Amiga DD floppies, I've never tried making a bootable HD floppy, I'll try it next time I'm at home. > One related question; the PC0 DOS Driver (and PC1, PC2....) is set up > for a DD PC disk; what do I need to change in the mountlist to get it > to recognise both PC 720K and 1440K? You don't need 2 separate mountlists, IIRC I didn't have to make any modifications to the DOSDriver to get it to recognise HD disks. Let me know what you think: ---8<--- *Welcome to afb!* *Please don't delete this message. If you want to unsubscribe from* *afb, it will tell you what to do. Just keep it to one side, in your* *archived folder, or some such.* Since the list is pretty high on traffic, I think you should know what to expect on your first day on the list. Here is a list of points to bear in mind. They aren't in any particular order, so just read through them all: *Unsubscribing* You don't actually have to unsubcribe from the list if the traffic is too high for you, you can just switch your subscription to being web-based, or a daily digest. If you really do want to unsubscribe, go to http://www.egroups.com/group/afb/ *Delayed Posting* afb has a lot of messages every day. If you don't have a permanent network connection, you'll find that it pays to read through all the mails before replying, since the question you are replying to may well have already been answered several times in the time between you receiving the initial mail and your reply. *Polls* If you want to set a poll, have a careful think about it first. Mill the question over in your mind and work out how you can best word it to fit into a maximum of eight choices for an answer. Once you've done that, think again on how you want to word your question so that no-one can pick a hole in it and say they would have chosen an option you didn't include. After that bit, fill out the form on the website for creating a poll, but remember to put a date in your text! Look at the other polls on the page already for guidance on where to put it, and remember, if your poll doesn't have a date, it'll get cancelled. *Quoting* Please pay attention to how others quote on the list. We don't like PC-style quoting of the entire message with your reply at the top. We also don't like "proper"-style quoting yet, with the entire original message quoted. There are plenty of folk on the list who have to pay to download messages, don't make them pay more than they have to. *Writing* If you're going to post, please wait a moment before sending it. Does it add to the information on afb, or merely repeat it? Are you going to insult someone (don't do it!)? Check your spelling and grammar, I don't think that many on the list are English graduates, but even so. *Replying* Make sure you quote properly (qv.), make sure you don't insult people, make sure your reply is necessary and that someone hasn't already given the info. *MANAGER posts* Please make sure you read them. There'll be a concrete reason for them, so you can guarantee they'll be important. *Moderation* There is a limit of 150 posts per day on afb. The daily limit is from 8AM to 8AM GMT the following day (because of the fact that eGroups are based on the west coast of the States and are thus eight hours behind GMT). If you receive a moderation message, this isn't a cue for you to ask the list owner why you are being moderated (the reason for moderation is almost always given in the moderation message body). Just wait and if your message is really worth it, re-post the following day. *Bouncing* If you find that messages aren't getting to you, simply send yourself a message from the afb website at http://www.egroups.com/group/afb/. That usually clears up your bouncing. Bouncing status is checked every so often anyway, so it's unlikely this will happen. v1.1 11.02.00 --->8--- All the best, -- Ben Vost (x2337) /PGP key available/ T: (+44) 01225 442244 Editor, Amiga Format F: (+44) 01225 732275 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Want to send something for the CD? No. An asteroid has to orbit the sun, apparantly. If you choose your definition carefully you may be able to class an asteroid as a star though - "any of the celestial bodies visible at night from Earth as relatively stationary, usually twinkling points of light". Hmmm, if I could make it to a Bristol SWAG meeting I'd only be to happy to buy you many many packets of crisps and beer. Problems with that (I am a SWAG member btw and I will get the newsletter online asap btw! :) are: * I'm 100 miles away from Bristol * I'm almost Seventeen * Which means legally I cannot drive :) (though I can!) * I cannot afford the taxi there ;)) * Bus's don't go that far! :) My solution; I'll send 'em to ya! :) Will it arrive if I sent the goods to: Poor Peeps Some Office 30 Monmouth St. Bath :) All the best, Nick. ------------------------------ message 46685 ------------------------------ http://www.eGroups.com/list/afb/?start=46685 Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 04:39:44 -0800 From: "Nick Lamburn" In-Reply-To: X-Mailing-List: afb@egroups.com Subject: [afb] Re: New ABC MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi, > > Wow That was quick! :) The number is in the mag so I'll look there > > instead of bothering you.
